Carl has a diverse repertoire of stories suitable for children, adults or mixed family friendly settings. Tales include Welsh legends and folktales (including the Mabinogion), Fables, ghostly stories, The Pentamerone and other mysterious and meaningful tales.
Carl uses storytelling for both entertainment and educational value, working outdoors and indoors with schools, community groups, parks and adult education. He has performed at festival’s including the Llangollen Eisteddfod and Beyond the Border and told stories as part of the BBC Radio Wales show, ‘The Unexplainers.’
With excellent knowledge and experience of delivering Community Development and Social Business, he has provided consultancy for the ‘Society for Storytelling’ and enthusiastically participates in projects that take storytelling into applied settings such as the ‘Sharing stories, Sharing understanding’. This project piloted storytelling as a vehicle to improve English language skills among refugees and asylum seekers and was commissioned to develop a performance (with BSL interpreter Anthony Evans) that would unify a mixed deaf and hearing audience into a single storytelling experience.
Willing to take commissions, he developed and delivered a walking tour at Craig y Nos Country Park that used storytelling for historical interpretation, portraying the life and times of Adelina Patti.
Carl also established and hosts ‘Swansea Storytelling’, a regular monthly evening of storytelling in Swansea.
